Senior Labor Relations Attorney
Pierre came to LGPI early in 2015. He began his 26-year career first as a Deputy District Attorney then as a criminal defense attorney. He has practiced in several areas but has focused more and more on labor & employment law since 2009. He is a member of the Labor & Employment Law and Litigation Sections of the Oregon State Bar and is certified by the National Public Employers Labor Relations Association as a Labor Relations Professional.
From 2008 to 2011, Pierre served as an Assistant County Counsel for Lane County as the County’s defense litigator and its labor & employment law counsel. He defended claims brought against the County in state and federal court and represented the County in labor arbitrations before both private arbitrators and the Oregon Employment Relations Board. He served on teams to bargain both successor contracts and single issues in mid-contract.
Pierre takes great pleasure in advising cities, counties and special districts on how to navigate sensitive labor relations. He specializes in leading management teams at the table in collective bargaining, in guiding management through discipline processes and in defending grievances and unfair labor practice complaints. “Wherever I’m summoned, managers need advice and often representation to preserve management’s interests in bargaining agreements or to prevent, mitigate or defend a labor dispute. My approach focuses on identifying management and union interests both to communicate effectively with unions to preserve or improve management’s authority freely to manage their workforces - and to produce agreements necessary to improve employee relations at large.”
Away from work Pierre is an avid swimmer who enjoys hiking and camping in Oregon's great outdoors and spending time with his two sons.
